Agawa Canyon
Hiking Agawa Canyon
To hike the Agawa Canyon and experience the views in the park – including a few waterfalls – it takes a 114 miles (183 km) day trip with the Agawa Canyon Tour Train from Sault Ste. Marie into the northern wilderness. For the best view overlooking the canyon, a climb of over 300 steps to the Lookout platform needs to be tackled – in my opinion the stunning views are worth the workout.
The train ride is especially awesome in fall, with an multitude of colours. Along the rail track are many lakes, and rivers. The journey winds through hills and a 130-foot-high, 1,550-foot-long curved steel trestle at the dam over the Montreal River.
